Privacy
Your focus data stays yours.
Focalify does not require an account or use third-party advertising or analytics. Focus data stays on your devices and in your private iCloud container when iCloud is available.
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Focalify (the “App”), provided by Rui Hu, handles information when you use it on iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Vision Pro. Focalify works without a developer-operated account or app backend. Focus-session data is not sent to a Focalify-operated server.
2. Information stored by the App
Focalify stores the information you create or configure so that its features can work, including:
- Session type, title, duration, timestamps, tags, status, and optional notes
- Daily and weekly goals, default durations, timer style, and other preferences
- Daily statistics stored for the App, plus streaks and awards computed from your session history
This information is stored on your device using Apple’s data-storage technologies. It is not sent to a Focalify-operated backend. If an app data store cannot be opened, Focalify can preserve a timestamped recovery backup on that device rather than deleting the unreadable store.
3. iCloud sync
When iCloud is available for Focalify, supported data is stored in your private iCloud container and synced through Apple’s CloudKit service. Focalify attempts this automatically and shows the current status in App settings. Your Apple Account and Apple’s terms and privacy policy govern that service. The developer does not operate a separate sync server and does not have access to your Apple Account credentials.
Active timers remain owned by the device running them; iCloud sync is intended for supported history and preferences, not live cross-device timer handoff.
4. Tracking and third-party services
Focalify does not include:
- User accounts or profile tracking
- Third-party analytics or advertising SDKs
- Cross-app or cross-site tracking
- Sale or sharing of personal information for advertising
Apple system services can process information needed for app functionality as described below. Focalify does not use that information to track you across apps or websites.
5. Apple system services
Focalify can use Apple platform services at your request or with system permission:
- Notifications for session-completion alerts
- Live Activities and Dynamic Island for an active iPhone session
- Siri and App Shortcuts for starting or stopping sessions
- iCloud and CloudKit for automatic data sync when available
Apple may process information needed to provide these services under Apple’s own policies and your device settings. Focalify asks for notification permission when you start your first session rather than during first launch.
6. Your controls
You control the data stored by Focalify. The App lets you:
- View, search, rename, annotate, repeat, and delete individual sessions
- Export completed session records to JSON and import a compatible session export
- Reset sessions, stored statistics, and app-level preferences with confirmation safeguards
- Review iCloud sync status and manage iCloud availability through Apple’s system settings
- Turn notifications, sounds, and related App preferences on or off
A reset does not necessarily remove device-level settings stored by Apple preferences, or a rare local recovery backup created after an unreadable store. Removing the App can remove local data. Data already stored in iCloud may remain subject to your iCloud settings and Apple’s retention practices.
7. Support messages, security, and retention
Local data is protected by the security controls of your Apple device. iCloud data is protected by Apple’s iCloud and CloudKit security. App data remains on your device or in iCloud until you remove it or the relevant Apple service removes it under your settings and policies.
If you email support or privacy contacts, Rui Hu receives the sender address, message, and any attachments you choose to include. That information is used to answer your request and is retained only as long as reasonably needed for support, security, recordkeeping, or legal obligations.
8. Children
Focalify is not designed to solicit personal information from children. Parents and guardians should manage a child’s device, Apple Account, iCloud, Siri, notification settings, and support contact as appropriate.
9. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when Focalify’s features or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised when an update is published. Material changes should be reviewed before continuing to use the App.
